Insurance Solutions - right fit protection
Most Kiwis need some level or combination of life insurance, health insurance and income insurance. Fortunately in New Zealand we are well served by a large number of insurance providers who offer a comprehensive range of insurance products to meet those needs. Protecting dependents with some level of family insurance is a key reason for many of our customers to start a conversation with us.

Everyone’s requirements and budget are different, some like to have all the bells and whistles in their insurance policies, others can afford or prefer to ‘self insure’ to a certain point to cover small mishaps with available cash or emergency savings.

Some people have pre-existing conditions which can make it harder or more expensive to get medical insurance and other types of personal insurance. Insurers do very well to provide different product offerings to fit all these differing needs but it can lead to complexity in the detail of insurance products. It can also make comparing insurers and their products difficult and time consuming.

That's when you need an insurance adviser like Fit Financial. We take the time to understand your needs, your particular concerns, and your budget to be able to match you to the right insurer and the right insurance cover. We provide insurance advice to the Wellington, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt regions, but people across New Zealand use us as their insurance broker.

Life Insurance
Life insurance provides financial protection for your family and dependants should the worst happen. It can be paid as a lump sum or as regular ongoing payments and can be used for a variety of important purposes such as paying outstanding debt, providing an income fund for family, ensuring your children’s education is provided for and covering funeral expenses.

One of the first steps of good life insurance advice, and obtaining good life insurance cover, is understanding who exactly will be the beneficiaries of your insurance and what financial position you want to leave them in.

We partner with a number of providers including AIA life insurance and Partners Life.
Health Insurance
Also referred to as medical insurance or private health insurance, health insurance covers the cost of hospital treatment for minor to major health problems and specialist appointments and procedures. Without health insurance you are reliant on the public health system for treatment.

Wait times can be lengthy. Due to limited resources there are often waitlists for treatment, or in the case of requiring cancer care, the drugs you require may not be provided by Pharmac. The devil is definitely in the detail when it comes to choosing your health insurance.

A good health insurance provider will provide more dollar value of cover for treatment expenses and non-Pharmac drugs than competitors and also have a good reputation for quick payment of claims.

Income Protection Insurance
Your ability to earn income is arguably your greatest asset, which income protection insurance helps protect for you. It's paid as an ongoing regular payment while you are unable to work. You can select the level of payment, the wait time before payments begin, and the period it pays out for. For example, payments which begin after 13 weeks and for a total 5 year period, or until you reach 65. The selections you make affect the cost of your premiums.
Mortgage Protection Insurance
This is a form of income protection insurance which covers your ongoing mortgage repayments. It's more affordable than income protection insurance and has the advantage of not being offset by any other income you receive, for example ACC payments.
Total and Permanent Disability Insurance
Disability insurance is paid as a lump sum should you be totally and permanently disabled and not able to work again. The financial protection it can provide is very similar to life insurance, for example providing for repayment of debt and providing an income for your family. It also has the addition of providing cover for the cost of your ongoing care and any modifications to make your home suitable for living with a disability.

Trauma Insurance
Trauma Insurance pays out a lump sum if you suffer a condition covered by your Trauma policy. It is designed to help cover costs of treatments and living costs while you recover. A good trauma policy will cover over 30 major health conditions, with most claims coming from ‘the big three’ - serious cancer, heart disease and stroke.
